Gunther (Timothy J. Cox), a lonely middle-aged man, has grown tired
with his life ... and with his sex doll, whom he chooses to treat like his
wife in particular - so he gets himself a new one, one that's much more
detailed and natural looking than his old doll. But his old doll isn't one
to give up on him that easily (or that's what Gunther's mind might tell
him), so much so that he actually has to chuck her into the trash can in
the street to be rid of her. However, bliss with his new doll is only
short-lived when he meets the very delivery man (Devin Craig) who brought
her shagging her in Gunther's own bed. Heart-broken, Gunther wishes his
old doll back - but that's easier said than done ... Despite
being littered with sex dolls, this is actually a rather cute little film
that uses them not to add spice to its story but as its emotional
centerpiece that anchors Gunther's life. And also thanks to a clever
screenplay, a very subtle directorial effort, and a strong cast with
Timothy J. Cox succeeding in making relateable what in other hands might
just have become a sleazy weirdo, this is absolutely worth watching.
