Cash Flipside (John Migliore) is not the happiest of club owners - ever
since disco music has gone out of fashion, he doesn't really understand
nightlife anymore, and his employees like his "I don't give a
fuck"-secretary (Deborah Jayne Reilly Smith), his cash-loving
daughter (Christie Petrossie), her half-witted boyfriend the bouncer (Nick
Heinrichs jr) and the club's musical promoter (Justin Lawrence) are really
getting on his nerves, and nowadays he finds solace mainly in the use of
recreational drugs - read marihuana here. Then though he stumbles over a
book that tells him how to turn his employees into his demonic slaves
using a special kind of weed and a sinister spell. And when Flipside finds
out this even works, he uses it - to revive disco ...
Now make no mistake here, The Demon Weed does paint its
comedy in broad strokes, deliberately refusing to stay clear of gross-out
jokes, and doing its best to remain offensive throughout - and that
totally fits the story it is telling: It's utterly outlandish and
non-sensical, so too much subtlety would have probably destroyed rather
than helped the thing. And in all its outrageousness, The Demon Weed
is actually pretty funny, too, even if often in an "Oooh, that's sooo
wrong"-way. I feel obliged to say watch at your own risk ... but
prepare to be entertained! And if this has at all gotten you
interested, you might want to watch The Demon Weed here:
