Feeling a strong headache coming on, a man (Reid McIver) sits down in
front of the TV with a beer - maybe not too good an idea since the loud
and garish action movie on TV does not really do anything to calm our hero
(and especially his head) down, and as good a friend as beer might be,
it's not the perfect headache-remedy, either ... but that's nothing
against the masked intruder (Roger Garcia) who shows up out of nowhere,
ties our hero to his cough, drills a hole into the back of his head,
shoots out one of his eyes, and ... and hey, it's all just a dream - but
is that really a solace, aren't the pains he's going through just as bad? Cluster
is basically migraine captured on film - in form of a horror movie ... and
that's not a metaphor about the quality of the movie, that's the actual
intention of the filmmaker - and he has succeeded, making the pain
comprehensible through genre-typical scare tactics. This in turn ensures
that this is not a dry trip through painland but puts entertainment value
to the grim on-screen proceedings. Very interesting and very promising,
to say the least.
