Clay (Dan Pesta) feels a little too stressed out at his job as an
anesthesist, so he starts starts using cocaine, just to keep awake at all
hours of day and night - and that causes him to lose a patient who came in
for nothing more than routine surgery. He somehow manages to get out of
this scot-free, but soon is paid a visit by mysterious Dion (Solo Lucci),
who offers to grant him a wish - and as he has nothing better on his mind,
he wishes half-jokingly to remain high all the time. But as he has no
interest in playing back Dion for this wish-fulfillment, Dion turns the
wish into a curse, and now Clay has to stay high all the time, otherwise
those he loves will die, one by one. This alone is hard enough, but even
harder is, his family sends him to Angel's (Tennille Taraszkiewicz) rehab
clinic, where drugs are hard to come by, and soon enough those around him
start to die, from his best friend (Alphonso Settles) to his wife's
(Nicole Alexander) father (Grover McCants) to his own brother (Todd Calvin
De Pew). And it slowly dawns upon Clay that Dion's curse is more real that
he ever could have suspected - and worse, he's pretty sure his wife and
daughter (Kayden Bryce) are next ...
A pretty cool piece of horror cinema, as it's based on a
pretty unusual premise that really borrows from a lot of other genre, from
anti-drug drama to pure fantasy, and rolls everything into something quite
original, up to its pretty surprising ending. And a cast of colourful
characters embodied by a very able cast, and a subtle directorial effort
really carry this movie and turn this into a quite satisfying genre trip.
