The baron (Jean-Gérard Sorlin) is a true supporter of free love - in
fact he forces it on almost everybody around him, especially his new wife
Glenda (Glenda Farrel), whom he repeatedly lures into scenarios where she
is shagged by strangers, and then he has her tell him every little detail
about it while she's in the nude and still sweating from the experience.
On top of that, he actively sees to it that Glenda, a very respected star
of the screen, pursues a career in porn. It should be noted here that
Glenda is 100% behind this lifestyle and has probably married the baron
because of that. It should also be noted that the baron houses many
friends and friends of friends in his mansion, all of whom are staying
mainly for the orgies the baron throws. So everybody should be happy,
right? Well, everybody but Martine (Lolita Da Nova), the baron's
daughter, who's still a virgin because she hates men. But while a virgin,
Martine is anything but an angel, she has a lesbian affair with one of the
baron's closest friends, and she keeps a slave (Gemma Giménez) in a
trailer outside the mansion, whom not only she uses as sex toy, but she
also occasionally lends her to her friends of both sexes - including a
nosey reporter (Jack Gatteau) she hardly knows - to have sex with her
while Martine herself watches and masturbates. Eventually, the baron
makes his daughter the centerpiece of an orgy where she does not lose her
innocence to just one but many man, including the baron himself and an
uncle of hers. She seems to enjoy it, too ... Ok, Body Love
makes pretty little sense storywise, it's little more than a journey into
debauchery that hardly touches the philosophy behind its characters'
hedonism - and yet, there's something about this film that's simply
captivating: Basically, this film, despite being explicit as can be and
definitely not holding back in any respect, doesn't feel like sleaze -
it's elegantly shot and directed, while at the same time avoiding all the
gloss that makes quite a bit of erotica dead-boring, All the performers
really look their roles and are convincing enough actors to bring their
characters across (especially Lolita Da Nova manages to embody just the
right mix of innocence and wickedness), the locations are pretty
wonderful, and several slightly absurd details mixed into the proceedings
just add to the atmosphere. Actually, a pretty good piece of 1970's
pornography, and one that easily stands the test of time.
