Since the Arch Bishop (Carl Bernard) has announced his visit, the Abbot
of Beresford (Lloyd Pearson) decides to have Friar Tuck (Alexander Gauge),
who is loyal to Robin Hood (Richard Greene), incarcerated so the
Inquisitor (Willoughby Bray) can torture a confession out of him. But
Robin Hood learns about this, sneaks into the abbey inside a wine barrel
(really), overcomes the hooded Inquisitor, takes his place, and when he
reads Tuck's confession, it reads more like a pro-King Richard manifesto
of the outlaws. The Arch Bishop, a man loyal to King Richard himself, is
so impressed that he arrests Robin and Tuck on the spot - but only to save
them from being arrested by the Sheriff's (Alan Wheatley) men. Out of
harm's way, the Arch Bishop lets them escape again ... Some
humourous spots here, like a foodfight between Little John (Archie Duncan)
and a chef (Wolfe Morris), but in all rather average, suspenseless and
pretty predictable.
