Staying overnight in Hong Kong, pilot George (Giuseppe Pambieri) is
badly beaten up, & when he finally comes to, he is in a hospital &
stares into the face of doctor Emy Wong (Chai Lee). He falls immediately
in love with her, & she with him, but she tells him their love cannot
be, since she, according to tradition, is promised to someone else (she
doesn't even know), & should she lose her virginity before the
wedding, she would have to become a prostitute ... that of course doesn't
stop George, who's soon back to his best health, from courting her, but
for the pure sex, he also stars an affair with Helen Miller (Ilona
Staller), his airline's Hong Kong representative. Only when he has
finally succeeded in getting Emy Wong laid, does he break up with Helen -
much to Helen's dismay. Soon, George & Emy Wong are talking about
marriage, & even start furnishing the house they are going to live in
... when George is called back to London, & offered a desk job there,
which he declines, but still it seems impossible for him to get back to
Hong Kong any time soon - & the letters he writes to Emy every day are
all stopped by jealous Helen, who destroys them (& might even be
behind George's call back to London). Emy grows increasingly worried, so
she finally asks Helen about George's whereabouts, who lies to her that
George is gooing to marry a sheepfarmer's daughter in Australia. Emy is
devastated & wants to throw herself off a cliff - but is saved by a
young man in the nick of time. He then fills her up with alcohol &
gets her laid, but as she doesn't respond to his lovemaking, he complains
& leaves. In a rather bizarre twist of logic, Emy then takes a job in
a high class brothel, where she learns the art of oriental lovemaking,
then she becomes a streetwalker. George meanwhile has finally managed to
take a month off, & goes to Hong Kong to look for Emy, but he can find
her neither in the hospital, nor the house they wanted to move into, nor
at her father's ... but when she sees him looking for her, she slips out
of her hooker outfits, back into her normal cloths & lets him find
her. The 2 seem to be reunited again & all tseems well, but in a
restaurant her old job (as a prostitute, not as a doctor) catches up with
her again, & George has to fight for her honour - a fight he wins, but
he passes out nevertheless. Again he wakes up in hospital, again he
looks into Emy's face, but she has now learned that he has some incurable
disease & only a few more days to live - but noone dares to tell him. Emy
decides to marry him on the double, & it's rather good that she did,
because he dies in the wedding night, right after sex. Devastated, she
kills herself too. Despite the participation of Ilona Staller -
who later became a porn household name as Cicciolina -, this is an
incredibly tame erotic drama without edges that instead concentrates on
its rather cheesy story. Unfortunately the film is also unoriginal,
unimaginative, & pretty boring.
