Anne (Jen Kuhn) and Craig's (Justin Michael Terry) relationship hasn't
been the happiest of late, so much so that they're not even sure anymore
they want to remain together - but still, they have agreed to try out Dr.
Peak's (Kevin Knight) highly experimental couples therapy - that gets them
both on a conjoined dreamscape that is supposed to sort them out on a
metaphysical level. Only the dreamscape's invaded, Dr. Peak is killed, and
on the run from whatever killed him, Anne stumbles upon all kinds of
characters that might have to do with her past and might know a way out -
but end up killed as well. And the killer is ... Craig! Thing is, this
is a dream, and things are nowhere near as simple as that. And even more
importantly, there might be some things that Anne has forgotten about
herself that might be vital for the goings-on ... Now ok, the
premise of this movie, the invaded dreamscape, might not be
super-innovative anymore but the mid-2020s - but writer/director Neal
Tyler sure knows how to make the concept his own, starting it off in the
expected sci-fi/horror territory but soon taking it into fields of
psychology and creating quite an unexpected but pretty awesome and complex
mystery around its simple premise. And a very atmosphere-heavy directorial
effort that even gets moody pictures out of mere white rooms, and a solid
cast, sure help to make this a pretty cool watch.
