Documentary filmmakers Alaa (Hassab Alkhlefe), Lara (Asma Jumaa) and
Shadi (Hamza Zahab) have made it their latest project to spend a night in
an abandoned and supposedly haunted house, an endeavour already marred
from the beginning by the fact that they can't decide whether they're
believers in the paranormal or not, and thus have quite a problem
interpreting what happens in the building to begin with. Then though, they
meet Abdallah (Ahmad Alrefai), an obvious drug addict who has long made
the house his residence and claims to have met the ghosts of its owners.
Reluctantly our filmmakers accept Abdallah's help - which takes them on a
downward spiral toward the land of the dead ...
Found footage films are a dime a dozen these days and to say
not all of them are good would be a gross understatement - but this is one
of the films that actually gets things right, basically because it doesn't
take its approach too seriously, instead goes for cinematic filmmaking and
proper editing, puts its emphasis on both atmosphere and characters, and
is well enough paced to make this an enjoyable genre ride throughout. In
other words, this one's definitely worth a look. And if this review has at all gotten you interested, this movie is available
from https://www.screambox.com/ from April 12th, 2024.
