It promises to be a stake-out as boring as they get for a couple of
cops, one veteran, old-school detective, Vincent (Paul Stroili), and John
(Kyler Porche), the rookie fresh from police academy who thinks he already
knows everything - and in theory, he does, but a stake-out isn't theory,
it's sitting in your police car waiting for something to happen - and it
mightn't happen at all. John is convinced that the person they are
stakeing out, Zachary (Todd James Jackson), is not the serial killer
they're looking for anyways, because he doesn't fit the profile, but
Vincent trusts his instincts ... but then again, his instincts don't keep
Vincent from stepping out of the car for a pee - and before you know it,
Zachary has overcome Vincent, tied him up, and now he uses him as bait in
a game of cat and mouse with John ... The Wrong Profile
is an economic little thriller that reduces its plot to a handful of
locations (the main being the inside of a car) and builds up its story and
creates its suspense through dialogue rather than spectacle - and thanks
to a well-structured script, an effective directorial effort and really
good acting, the whole thing comes together quite beautifully!
