Bruised and battered, Jenny (Anita Nicole Brown) sits in her living
room, musing over a gun and obviously contemplating suicide. Finally she
picks up the gun, ready to blow her brains out, when, click, no bullet. A
rap on the door, and it's Roy (Willy Adkins), apparently the man who did
this to her, ordering her to open the door. Jenny picks up the gun, pulls
the trigger ... and against all expectations, the gun goes off. Jenny
thinks she has killed Roy - when a much bigger drama unfolds ... A
Woman and a Gun is essentially a one-woman-show, and Anita Nicole
Brown carries the film (and her character's emotions) amazingly well.
That's not to say the short isn't interestingly written and
well-structured, especially keeping in mind the limitation to just one set
and one character, because it is, and the direction is subtle enough to
not stand in the way of the evolving drama. A pretty impressive little
gem!
