Matt (Michael Kenneth Fahr) has been bullied all through high school,
bascially because he seemed odd and was gay. And his brother Josh (Cuyle
Carvin) and Josh's girlfriend Sarah (Sarah Nicklin) were no exception -
you might even say Sarah was the worst, spreading rumours about him in
school to actually encourage the bullies. The only one who was yet worse
was Matt's dad (Mark Benedictis), who threatened to disown Matt after he
found out about his homosexuality (thanks to Sarah) - but dad died soon
afterwards ... All this happened a few years ago though, and now Josh
and Sarah want to spend a few "romantic" hours at Josh's
mother's (Candice Cole) pool while she's out of town. Josh, probably too
horny to think straight, figures Matt won't mind (let alone be a problem),
but when they find him with a meat cleaver in the dark, they figure
something's wrong - and indeed, all the bottled up rage within Matt comes
up this very night, to gruesome results ... Though in some ways
employing your typical slasher mechanics (youngsters too bent on partying
are getting killed), Victimized is much more than your typical
slasher movie, first and foremost because it doesn't make it easy for the
audience to determine who the real baddies are in this one - after all,
the killer has a very good reason to do what he does (even if his actions
are over-the-top) and none of the victims are free of guilt, quite the
contrary, they helped form the killer into what he is. But in the film,
all of this is brought across not even half as heavy handed as it sounds,
making it a very tight psycho thriller that's carried by a first rate cast
and a directorial effort that keeps its eyes on the story rather than mere
mindless spectacle. Quite a chilling movie, actually!
