It's Valentine's Day, and since a very young girl has nobody to be her
Valentine and she's all alone at home, she calls the number of the local
coffee shop to ask the employee who picks up (Douglas Reese), a total
stranger to her, whether he wants to be her Valentine. Now the coffee shop
guy is quick to notice the caller is a mere kid, but he's nice enough to
not hang up right away but explain to her why asking strangers to be one's
Valentine is not necessarily the best thing to do for a girl her age ...
with surprising results ... The Valentine is nothing
big, nor does it try to be, it's just one of those little movies that gets
the most out of a rather trivial situation and makes it into something
charming, maybe comparable to some of Eric Rohmer's best movies. Very
enjoyable, actually.
