There is an urban legend about a woman, Teketeke, who misses the lower
part of her body and who now roams the city, attacking other woman and
cutting them in half - but when shoolgirls Kanna and Hayako learn about
the corpse of a woman cut in half, they just joke about the Teketeke-myth
and don't take the whole thing too seriously. Soon, too, they move on to
other things, like fighting over a boy. That night, Hayako is cut in half
and killed by Teketeke, and Kanna is plagued by guilt because after their
fight over the boy they parted on bad terms. Later, Kanna too is attacked
by Teketeke but manages to escape. Now she starts to investigate the
Teketeke-myth, soon helped by her crazy aunt, and with the help of a
professor's absent minded assistant, they even find the grave where the
actual body of Teketeke (who's of course a supernatural creature) lies,
somewhere far out in the country, and figure by moving the gravestone that
has been removed back into place, they would end Teketeke's very existance
- well, they were wrong, as Kanna is attacked by Teketeke soon enough, but
once again manages to escape - and that experience has taught her that
Teketeke can only see the colour red, and as long there is nothing red on
you, you should be safe - too bad then that the aunt's car they are trying
to get away with is red. Still, Kanna and auntie manage to ditch the car
(after Teketeke has crashed into it), and shake her in the woods - which
is not too hard because none of them is wearing or carrying anything red
... until of course auntie bangs her head, starts to bleed, and ... well,
wht do you think? Rather mediocre slasher of the urban
legends-variety, that has on one hand a really cool killer (that's only
hampered by too much CGI) to offer and a handful of over-the-top killings
(though the bodycount is rather low), on the other hand, the narrative as
such is just way too clichéd to really attract too much interest, and
thanks to an uninspired directorial effort, Teketeke never rises
above mediocricy.
