The USA seems to be a country of drifters from the looks of it: There's
the guy without any money or passport (Michael Wieck) who found himself
South of the border and now heads for Texas to have his revenge on the guy
who left him there without anything. There's the woman (Rachel Cederberg)
who investigates alien activity in Roswell while sleeping under bridges.
There's the Hollywood tour guide (Robbie Bruens) on the run to Las Vegas
who picks up a self-absorbed wannabe actress (Alex Essoe) - and somehow
manages to make a mess out of it. There's the poet (Jeremy O. Harris) who
hitches a ride with two weirdo hippie girls (Jasmi Kaset, Makenzie Green),
to the weirdest results - and those are just some of the drifters who
cross the country in every direction, sometimes looking for something and
not finding it, sometimes finding something they have never even looked
for ... This is most certainly a most unusual film: Some of it
feels like an alternative travelogue, some of it like a philosophical
treatise, but then it also features elements of science fiction, horror
and gangster cinema, surreal and absurd spots, all in a loosely connected
almost-anthology - and the outcome is a rather fascinating piece of film,
also helped by a directorial effort that avoids hidding its audience on
the head with the film's "meaning" and a very believable and
relatable cast. And of course, the carefully chosen locations all across
the country give the film some extra boost. Well worth a look.
