Daisy (Jessica Stevenson) comes back from a 2 months trip to Asia to see how
little has changed - her flatmate Tim (Simon Pegg) & his best mate Mike
(Nick Frost) - who has since moved into the flat as well - are still watching
the same video of Tim's skating accidents, their landlady Marsha is still
drinking like a fish, their mad next-door neighbour, the sort-of-artist Brian
(Mark Heap) is still ... well, he's still Brian, & Tim - desptie the fact
it's now 18 months in the past - is still depressed about Star Wars -
Phantom Menace ... But then 2 customs agents (Kevin Eldon, Mark Gatiss)
are after her because of a bag of illegal goods she is believed to have
smuggled into the country, & despite her best efforts - including some Kung
Fu kicks she ahs picked up in Asia - they always manage to catch up with her
... in the end though she is saved from an arrest by Marsha, the only person
who has managed to sit through her holiday videos. & on one of the videos
there is proof that not she did smuggle the goods into the country but Stephen
(John Simm), an acquaintance from abroad who switched their bags ... Despite
some very fuinny moments - including parodies of both Pulp Fiction,
Matrix & Woody
Allen's Manhattan - the episode as a whole fails to work because it tries to
tell 2 stories at the same time that totally contradict each other - for one
the story of Daisy coming home & realizing how little has changed, but on
the other hand the story of her being chased by gouvernment agents, including
some Kung Fu. Ah yes, & the martial arts bit comes across a little silly,
too.
