A bank clerk robs his own bank ... and is killed by his own accomplice
for his efforts, but nevertheless left lying there biwh a thousand Dollars
from the loot in his hand. The driver of the bank clerk's getaway car, a
undercover cop, is also found dead with a thousand Dollars in his hand.
Police investigations amount to precious little, too, but thank God
there's this ambitious newspaper reporter Dale (Hal Skelly), who isn't
always a few steps ahead of the police, he also finds time to romance Ruth
(Rose Hobart), one of the bank's employees, and despite the case turning
into more and more of a mess, he manages to hand the gang of mobster Jack
Bradshaw (Bram Nossem) - incidently one of Ruth's admirers - over to the
police and unveils another bank clerk, Tony Rico (Cesar Romero) to be the
brains behind the whole operation. In the end, Dle explains the whole
story to the audience ... and it still makes little sense. Overly
convoluted crime drama/murder mystery that is so busy handing out
enigmatic clues that it doesn't waste a single thought about actually
tieing the whole thing together - and ultimately, the audience is left
with a rather boring piece of cinema that leaves its audience asking
"huh?" more than anything else, without ever having anyone say
"aha". Not worth your while.
