One night, Johnny (Johnny J. Gordon) takes his new girlfriend Sheri
(Sheri Lee) to a haunted house attraction to pretty much scare her into
his arms. Thing is, Sheri isn't scared that easily, and instead of finding
comfort in his arms she intends to explore the place - something he's not
even that comfortable with. And he's right, as there's a serialkiller on
the loose at the premises ... Now Scaring Sheri isn't
exactly a very complex piece of horror - in fact in a subverted way the
title already gives away muchof the movie -, but in its straightforward
narrative it's also lots of fun to watch, as it finds exactly the right
balance between atmosphere, suspense and jump scares, makes the best of
uses of its haunted house backdrops, and seems to really be out to satisfy
the dedicated horror fan's needs without ever just trying to go for the
lowest common denominator. It's basically a genre miniature set out to
entertain - and it succeeds at that level whole-heartedly.
