David (Trace Hazelbaker) has been suffering from depressions for quite
a while now, depressions that even amounted to suicidal tendencies, and as
a result, he has closed pretty much everyone out of his life and hidden in
his basement room for the last couple of weeks - until his brother
(Douglas Reese) stops by, not only to check if everything's alright but
also to get him out for a change, and with an unconventional pep-talk
involving a movie anology about the Jennifer Lopez-Ben Affleck vehicle Gigli,
he almost succeeds - almost at least, as whatever it is that's eating
David sits deeper than to just be talked away in a jovial manner ... Now
I have to be honest, the first 20 or so minutes are a little dull to sit
through, as they show David at his daily routine but do little to set his
character up. It's when his brother arrives though that the movie does
come to life, as the dialogue between the two (including above-mentioned,
extended movie anology) is actually very poignant and digs very deep
without spoonfeeding the audience, instead hiding the key points in the
flow of the conversation. And the ending is most certain to surprise
everyone ...
