Upon little Eddie's (Butch Patrick) suggestion, the Munsters go
camping, which initially is quite a success when Herman's (Fred Gwynne)
version of fishing, where he just fishes ready cooked food from other
people's campfires, provides them with everything that they could want for
dinner. But after dinner, Grandpa (Al Lewis) gets somewhat homesick when
hearing the coyotes howl. And the next morning, Grandpa's gone, but Herman
and Lily (Yvonne De Carlo) hear on the radio that a Transylvanian wolf has
been found and captured at the campgrounds - Grandpa, quite obviously.
Lily goes down to the ranger station, but the rangers (Don Haggerty, Ed
Peck) are unwilling to hand over the wolf to her and refuse to accept that
the wolf's her father, especially since Grandpa has forgotten the
re-transformation spell. So Herman breaks into the ranger station at
night, and the family smuggles out the wolf by Lily wearing him round the
neck as a fur wrap. Sure, some of the sight gags in this
episode are quite a bit childish, but the series leads are once again at
the top of their game and make them work through their acting and
chemistry, and the unfamiliar surroundings do this episode some good,
especially since they still lend themselves to a story tailored to The
Munsters. So in all, pretty good fun for sure.
