It's a lesbian speed dating event, and after first introductions (via
talking head shots) it seems the group of women the organizer has
hand-picked couldn't be more at odds with one another, as their prominent
character traits range from vanity to vapidity, from butchness to
over-sensibility, and really everything in between, and their conversation
during their "dates" revolve around the most bizarre topics, and
quite a few times about male genitalia - but in the end everybody meets
their match, even Rodney (Bryan Murray), the only male participant who was
naive enough to let his love guru (Conor Boucher) sign him up for this ... This
is actually quite a bit more fun than my synopsis makes it sound to be, a
dialogue-driven comedy that doesn't make the mistake to rely on jokes at
the expense of lesbianism but while the sexuality of its ensemble is
omnipresent, it's really the characters (and their lines) that make this
one hilarious - and also in a way endearing, as over the course of this
film they move away from being the initial caricatures and are more and
more fleshed out. This is of course also thanks to a very able cast, and a
very subtle, almost (faux-)documentarian directorial effort. In short,
this one's a hoot!
