Ex-marine Jim's (Stephen Thompson) dad has died under mysterious
circumstances, and when going through his stuff, Jim notices his old man
was somewhat obsessed with arrowheads, especially one known as Oro
Arrowhead, a Cherokee gold arrowhead with some mystical powers. Now Jim
asks around in town a bit about that arrowhead, but he's only met with
cold shoulders as soon as he mentions it - so much so actually that he's
"advised" to drop his investigations. So equipped with one of
his dad's maps of the region that might or might not show the location of
the arrowhead, he goes on an expedition of his own - to be met by a bunch
of ruffians that are even prepared to use firepower should the need arise,
and despite all his training, it's only thanks to Gola (Vanessa Ore) that
he manages to escape. Now Gola is half Cherokee, and she's determined to
not let the arrowhead fall into the wrong hands - even if she knows as
much or as little about the arrowhead's location as Jim does. Now it takes
her some time to trust that Jim isn't after the arrowhead for it's value
and powers, but to find out what really happened to his dad, but the real
enemy is Sabal Fade (Robbie Dernehl), local woman of wealth and power
who's driven by greed to find the thing. And she's the one who has not
only sent the ruffians after Jim but also a sniper (Michaela
Nimmerrichter) and a seductive blonde (Jasmine Dernehl), who also poses as
Jim's sister's (Amber Lynn Kennison) best friend. And Sabal will stop at
nothing to get the arrowhead, not even kidnapping or murder, so what
started as merely looking for answers has turned into a fight for life and
death for Jim ...
Now to be absolutely honest, this movie could have done with a
highter budget as the lack of funds is at times a little too obvious. At
the same time though, this is a lively adventure yarn that moves along at
a swift enough pace to keep one thoroughly entertained, that has enough
emotional depth to keep one invested in its story and characters, and that
sure enough has its heart in the right place, treating its backstory, the
Cherokee legend, with the respect it deserves, to make this into a very
nice ride.
