It
all starts with a murder on the tennis court - and Kottan (Lukas
Resetarits) and gang (Walter Davy, Curt A. Tichy) soon find out that the
victim (Richard Haller) wasn't really the mild mannered caretaker everyone has taken him
for but involved in illegal arms trading. They follow a trail to a shady
bar where they almost got the owner (Erich Frank) to talk before he's shot - incidenly
not by anyn involved in the case but by Kottan's arch nemesis Horrak
(Ernst Konarek) who actually tried to hit Kottan. However, they do get a
lead to criminal mastermind Wasseervogel (Leon Askin), chief crime kingpin
in town. But they can't prove Wasservogel anything, as was always the case
with him. Wassservogel meanwhile plots to blow up an embassy, just to
distract the police enough to have his men rob a bank - but that plan is
thwarted by Kottan, who was at the bank merely by chance, because he
requested a mortgage to finance a new girlfriend (Cecile Nordegg) he has picked up this episode to
cheat on his wife (Bibiane Zeller), and other girlfriend, prostitue Elvira
(Eva Kerbler). Now true, on a pure story level, this episode
has very little to offer, everything is just straight forward, the
resolution at the end is less than gratifying, and there's little elegance
in the investigations - and yet, this is one of the better episodes of
what proved to be the series' last year as it does actually focus more on
storytelling than comedic skits, and even the skits are integrated into
the story better than usual, even the musical interludes. Now this one
might be a far cry from the earlier episodes of the show, but quite ok
entertainment still.
