It's change of the guard in Inspector Keller's (Erik Ode) office as
Harry Klein (Fritz Wepper) leaves to serve under another inspector (the
titular hero from the TV series Derrick,
which debuted 7 months after this episode) and is replaced by his brother
Erwin (Fritz Wepper's real life brother Elmar). Erwin and Keller bond
almost immediately, when they both separately notice the victim of the
latest murder they have to solve, Eva Thamm (Sabine Sinjen), had very
small feet - a fact that otherwise doesn't factor in their investigation
at all. Keller and Erwin investigate Eva's past and find out she was a
country girl who has come to Munic because Rossmer (Peter Ehrlich) offered
her a job at his boutique and room at his apartment, and she was such a
big-hearted girl she became his lover almost naturally - but pretty as she
was, she soon attracted the attention of photographer Mischa (Martin
Lüttge) and became his lover. Enter shady businessman Arno Hess (Udo
Vioff), who soon stole her from Mischa. But then Eva met a heroin addict,
Mandy Stein (Christian Reiner), and she took it upon herself to take care
of him, to help him kick the habit - but whoever was Mandy's supplier
wouldn't want to let such a good customer go, and this conflict of
interest apparently led to her murder. Keller and his assistants, Erwin,
Heines (Reinhard Glemnitz) and Grabert (Günther Schramm) are having a
beer at the pub where Eva first met Mandy Stein, and they notice the
landlord (Günther Neutze) acting mighty nervous, and when Mandy Stein
arrives at the pub trying to score some smack rather publicly, they put
two and two together and lay a trap that catches not only the landlord but
also his accomplice, who turns out to be Arno's mother (Alice Treff). The
most interesting aspect of this episode is probaby the handover of the
role of the inspector's assistant from brother to brother that also
features an extended monologue by Keller about crime as such which is at
least partially cringeworthy - but in a so-bad-it's-good way. Storywise,
this episode isn't of too much interest, especially since its central
figure, the girl who's pretty much everybody's lover and everybody's
fascinated by her, seems to be rather contrived, as is the piece's
resolution. But then again it's exactly this far-fetchedness, coupled with
stilted dialogue, that makes Der Kommissar such a fun watch,
something this episode ably demonstrates.
