Gentaro (Shoji
Ishibashi), agent for Professor Tsushima, and his klutzy colleague Goro
(Mitsuo Hamada), who unbeknowest to Gentaro is really the giant robot Iron
King, are getting closer and closer to the Shirunai Clan headquarters,
much too close for Shirunai Clan leader Taro (Shinzo
Hotta), who by now throws everything at them he's got, including any
number of death traps, small tanks (that look like large mice [!]) and of
course your customary giant robot, this time it's Gold Fire, who can turn
his right hand into a missile to shoot at his adversaries and who can
shoot fire. As always, Gentaro and Iron King manage to chase off the giant
robot pretty soon, but you just know there will be a rematch ...
On their way to the headquarters, Gentaro and Goro find a bunch of
female campers, and while Goro wants to urge them to leave, Gentaro
decides to keep them here to use them as bait for the Shirunai Clan. As
heartless as Gentaro's plan might be, it actually works, and soon Gentaro
and Iron King engage in a batle with Shirunai-henchmen and with Gold Fire
once again, but this time Iron King is thrown into an underground trap
while Gentaro almost loses his life in the battle when he is threatened by
Taro - but he is saved by lovely Kyoko walking by singing a lovely tune.
Now Gentaro gets back at Taro, and Iron King saves himself from his
underground prison, and the two of them chase Gold Fire and Taro away for
now.
Kyoko immediately falls in love with Gentaro but urges him to stay away
from Shirunai headquarters because she doesn't want to lose him - however,
he just knows he has to fulfill his mission, so (for whatever reason) she
heads for the headquarters herself and is of course taken hostage. And
when Gentaro tries to free her, she is shot, too. Now there's no holding
back for Gentaro and Iron King, and they go one on one with Taro and Gold
Fire, respectively, and ultimately Iron King manages to secure the flying
hand of Gold Fire, set it on fire and send it back to its owner, blowing
up Gold Fire and Taro with it.
The Shirunai Clan is no more, but now a dinosaur-like creature has
surfaced from its underground prison, a creature controlled by the Phantom
Opposition Party - but more about that in the next episode ...
The two-part finale to the first story-arc of Iron King.
Not the greatest couple of episodes probably, mainly because there's very
little in terms of destruction of miniature sets (I guess I'm jsut a
sucker for that), but still quite entertaining (in a silly, childish sort
of way), with a particularly amusing giant robot, Gold Fire, who looks
very much like a chicken. Now if that's no reason to watch the episode ...
