Basically, Sydney's (Demise Harp) just a really nice guy who wants to
do right even if it doesn't work in his favour - so even though he runs a
book story that's in deep debt, he invents discounts for customers like
Hattie (Daniela Cobb) if they're a couple of bucks short for the books
they've chosen. Or he picks up a cellphone he finds on the pavement to try
to return it to its rightful owner, and when an old man (Michael Snead)
then scares him shitless before collapsing, he has the decency to call
emergency even though all his instincts tell him to just run. Thing is,
that little incident gets him in trouble with both law inforcement and the
ghost world, and the only one willing to help him in this story he doesn't
even begin to understand is Hattie ... Quite clearly, The
Ghost and the Negro has taken a few cues from classic Twilight
Zone in regards of telling a supernatural story with quite a
few plot twists that leaves one puzzled even after watching - but that's
not to say the thing's story isn't highly original, as it is, and its
slow-burn approach works totally in its favour, putting more emphasis on
its characters (especially Sydney) than on spectacle (though there are a
few rather creepy instances) - to rather entertaining results, actually. Oh,
and if this has at all gotten you interested, you may want to watch the
whole series (only 3 episodes long) here: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCgCMzBZOva3yb6bJMwMfWFw/playlists
