Young Wilton (Xavier Thorton) got into a fight at school, which urged
his mother Jacqueline (Yasiris Alvarado) to pick him up. On their way
home, Jacqueline learns that the fight had to do with Wilton's missing cat
and a curse connected to it, but Jacqueline promises him she will always
be there for him - and the next day, Wilton's gone, and the only lead
Jacqueline has is a flower seller (Hanna Kathryn Young) she and Wilton met
the other day, and a cult connected to her ... Now story-wise The
Flower People is nicely told but does not have that much new to offer.
The real effect of the film though lies in its pictures, as it uses
strong, impressive images to bring across the creepiness of the situation,
images that will sure remain with the audience for a while, also because
the film uses a slow enough pace to let them properly sink in - all of
which makes this well worth a watch ... unless you're too easily creeped
out.
