Just as he is to teach his disciples, Jesus (Marc Velasco) is
interrupted by Jacob (Salvador Llós), who tells him his son Lazarus
(Roger Sotera) has just died. Jesus and Judas (Noé Blancafort) rush over
to Jacob's place, and Jesus revives Lazarus with the greatest of ease ...
as a flesh-eating zombie, and before he knows it, undead Lazarus has
zombiefied quite a few people. Upon realizing he has caused a zombie
epidemic (which also includes cowboy zombies with guns), Jesus, Judas in
tow, makes a quick getaway. But while Jesus seems to be weirdly unfazed by
what he has done, Judas is overcome by guilt and hands himself. Jesus
revives his friend - who dies right again because Jesus hasn't thought
about cutting him down first. Second time around, Jesus has taken more
precautions and this time, Judas comes back to stay, and as a human rather
than a zombie, too. But by now, the zombies have caught up with Jesus and
want to kill him. And all Jesus is armed with is a fish - but if you're at
all familiar with Jesus's Feeding of the Multitudes, you'll know
what he can do with fish ... Devout Christians will no doubt
hate this film, as it doesn't necessarily treat Jesus with the greatest of
respects, turns him into a selfish fool actually - but genre fans with a
sense of humour will probably laugh through this as it's at the same time
witty, gory, and inventive in its violence. that said, the film's not
perfect, it does build its story up nicely no doubt, but once Jesus
becomes a zombie killer, it's just one slaying after the other, and while
these scenes are very well done and over-the-top, it kind of becomes a bit
repetitive. Still, a great laugh.
