Cougar Mountain has seen more than its fair share of animal attacks, so
much so that popular vlogger Chris (Eric Berger), despite not being
well-versed in the topic, has decided to investigate - in hopes to find
Bigfoot, Instead, Chris winds up dead himself, and the police's first
suspect, a crazy fan of Chris's (Emily Hyde) has to quickly let go again
as the attack has been far too viciously for a girl of her size and
stature. Then ranger Jason (Andrew Jacob Brown) makes an interesing
discovery, Chris has installed a camera on a nearby tree that ultimately
filmed his own demise - and the resulting video shows he has been
viciously attacked by an unidentified creature, maybe even Bigfoot. Jason
and Sheriff Ken (Jack Vanover) head for local Bigfoot expert Henry
(Benjamin Watts), who feeds them enough information to cause them to
slightly panic, and so they form a search party to look for Bigfoot clues
- but they don't come up with anything until Jason's fellow ranger and
fatherly friend Al (Tim Blough) goes missing, leaving behind a walkie
talkie covered in blood ... As Bigfoot movies go,
this is a pretty cool one, especially since it for a change doesn't rely
on the monster movie formula but puts its mystery center stage and
focusses much more on suspense than jump scares or violence - to the point
where the audience hardly gets a glimpse of its central monster, instead
is presented with more than their fair share of plottwists and surprises -
for a creature feature at least. And the locations are pretty much
breathtaking and are put to good use for sure. And all of this results in
pretty cool genre entertainment.
