Bomba the Jungle Boy film number 6:
Native girl Lola (Donna Martell) has fallen in love with Bomba the
jungle boy (Johnny Sheffield), whom she, assistant to village teacher Miss
Banks (Edith Evanson), teaches to read and write - and unfortunately, that
seems to be all he's interested in. So she decides to make him jealous,
hooking up with white hunters Warren (John Kellog) and Collins (Myron
Healey) ... who unbeknowest to her are crooked elephant hunters who even
kill to get their hands on every bit of ivory they can get. and Bomba is
actually on their trail, as he is opposed to anyone who kills elephants -
which of course makes Warren and Collins want to kill Bomba as well, and
they plan to use the girl to do so.
Meanwhile it looks as if Miss Banks has to use the native village due
to lack of funds, but chief Nagalia (Martin Wilkins) figures he can help
increase funds by selling the ivory his ancestors have stocked in a hidden
cave nearby decades ago. Unfortunately though, the crooked hunters learn
about this, and now they want to get their hands on this ivory as well -
and they even take Lola hostage to get what they want ... but in the end,
an elephant stampede takes care of them, while Bomba friend of all
animals, saves teh day by keeping the elephants from destroying the whole
native village.
This film introduces Leonard Mudie as the new commissioner Barnes and
has Bomba riding an elephant for the first time.
Not too bad an entry into the Bomba series in which stock footage and
newly shot footage are combined quite effectively. The downside however is
that the film's plot is totally predictable. Still, if you like cheao
jungle films, this one's at least worth a look (if you can find it).
