After their parents have committed suicide, leaving them hardly anything at all, Justine's (Koo Stark) & Juliette's (Lydia Lisle) stay at the monastery they were brought up, seems to come to an end, especially after Justine refuses to have lesbian sex with the perverted Mother Superior (Maggie Peterson).

So the 2 go to London to ask Pauline (Ann Michelle), their only known relative, for help ... but Pauline is a whore, & she takes the girl to her whorehouse & its owner Madame Laronde (Katherine Kath), who is ore than interested to hrie the 2 girls. But while for sinful Juliette the transformation from nun to whore seems to be quite natural & she doesn't mind any depravity at all, poor Justine runs off, even stealing a silver box to be able to pay the fare to back where she came from ...

Since she can't go back to the monastery, she does the next best thing & asks the monastery's pastor John (Louis Ife) for lodgings for the night, which the man happily offers. But off duty, the pastor is not quite the holy man he pretended to be, & it is not long before he tries to rape Justine, but falls off the roof of his house trying.

Knowing she might be blamed for the pastor's death, Justine runs off ... & right into the arms of Mrs Bonny (Hope Jackman) & her gang of thieves. Bonny sees potential in the girl for future crimes, but when HJustine outright refuses, Bonny presents her with the choice to either join them or be gangraped ... & so Justine joins them after all.

Juliette meanwhile has slept her way up to nobility & has since we've last seen her become the mistress of Lord Carlisle (Martin Potter). Buit she's troubled over her little sister & asks Lord Carlisle to go look for her, which he agrees to trying to retrace Justine's footsteps the very next day ... & boy is he good, as he ends up prisoner of Bonny & her merry men as well.

He & Justine however manage to flee & shake Bonny's gang goff their trail ... when Lord Carlisle realizes what a fine dish Justine is, & he decides to rape her right on the spot. But hardly has he finished have Bonny & her gang caught up with them again, & while Carlisle takes off, the men gangrape Justine, then throw her into the nearby lake. Then they go after Carlisle & kill him as well. End.

Somehow, Marquis De Sade's most famous (& possibly most filmed) novel did never get a real proper treatment, & Cruel Passion is one of the lesser adaptations to begin with, as it seems to be little more than a period drama with a bit of nudity thrown in, with none of Marquis De Sade's depravity or perverted satire to speak of, & even the story that remains istold in a rather uninvolvin manner.
