Funfair magician Sadini (David J.Stewart) finds the dying homeless boy
Hugo (Brandon De Wilde) in the street, gives him food and abode and nurses
him back to health - and eventually, the boy grows fond of him and
especially his wife Irene (Diana Dors). But Hugo is such a simpleton that
he believes Sadini to be a real magician (despite his obvious tricks) and
furthermore the devil (because of his appearance) - while he thinks his
sexy wife to be an angel. So when Irene tells him to get rid of Sadini -
because she wants to be with her lover George (Larry Kert) -, the boy does
not hesitate and kills his benefactor, only get his hands on Sadini's
magic wand. Then though, the boy kills George too, and finally, he tries
to recreate one of Sdini's tricks, sawing Irene in half ... but
unfortunately he thinks the trick entirely relies on the magic wand ... A
clever and shocking twist ending can'tobscure the fact that the story
preceding it is incredibly contrived and is completely lacking in the
charm department - and furthermore far from believable ... which is
a pity, since both the ending and the brilliant cast would have deserved
something better. Actually, this one just proves you are not
automatically a good writer because you've written Psycho a few
years back I guess.
