Robin Hood (Richard Greene) gets a letter of one Friar Tuck (Alexander
Gauge) from the next forest, demanding his help ... but since Robin is not
sure if this isn't a trap, he dons the disguise of a friar himself , and
teases the friar - a rather rotund man who enjoys life in full swing - a
bit (among other things he peruades him to give him a piggy-back ride
across a river) before he makes himself known.
So the friar tells Robin his problem: There is this girl, Mildred
(Faith Bailey) who's really in love with that guy, HArry (John Drake), but
her master Lord Germain (Douglas Wilmer) gave her to Sir William (Leslie
Phillips) instead. Now the girl has fled and sought sanctuary at the
friar's ... but Lord Germain and Sir William are close behind.
In a joint effort, Robin and the friar can prevent Lord Germain from
getting his hands on the girl, so he rides off to fetch the Sheriff of
Nottingham (Alan Wheatley), while Robin and Tuck dissuade Sir William from
wanting to marry the girl, then marry her to Harry. And when the Sheriff
arrives, Robin successfully throws him off track of the newlyweds ...
Rather amusing episode, actually, amusing maybe in a childish way, but
then again, this program was made for children.
