Pugsley (Ken Weatherwax) has developed into a pretty average 10 year
old, so much so that he has joined the boy scouts - much to the dismay of
his parents (John Astin, Carolyn Jones), who'll stop at nothing to keep
him weird as they are ... even if that "nothing" means to hire a
psychatrist (George Petrie) and scare the shits out of him, just to keep
their son off the beaten path ... Now one can't but love the
underlying message of this episode, that's not only it's great to be
different but it's even greater to be weird. So if it comes down to this
alone, this episode delivers. And also, Carolyn Jones and John Astin do
give just the right performances to make this feel tangible and real -
it's just the writing that really feels lazy and unwilling to make
anything out of the premise other than a few sight gags. But at least
these are pretty funny ...
