This is the story of young social worker Lena (Gabrielle C. Archer),
who's late on her first day on the job, and she would also get fired for
it right away, if it wasn't that the agency was so criminally
understaffed. But as punishment her boss (Michael Gentile) gives her an
especially difficult job, to tell Eddie (Marbel Melendez) that he's
"released" from foster care due to turning 18, even though this
is the only home he has ever known. This is also the story of Lena's
neighbour Noah (Shaka Omari), a loving father to his kids, but so up over
the ears in debt that he's forced to turn to crime. And this is the story
of young Greg (Marcus Williams), who has grown used to turn to violence to
solve all his conflicts. And this is the story of Maribel (Diana Sanchez),
who would stop at almost nothing to get her daughter back - even if the
womanizing social worker (Chris Riquinha) handling her case is driving her
up the wall ... A TV-pilot that never got picked up - which is
a shame as it shows lots of promise as an ensemble piece weaving many
narrative threads loosely together without ever dropping the common theme,
and more importantly, the whole piece has heart, too. And that a competent
ensemble really carries the pilot doesn't hurt either of course - it's
just really a shame that we never got to see more than this pilot, and
thus many narrative threads remain unresolved.
