First of all, why don't you introduce yourself to those of us who
don't already know you?
Hi there!
EG Daily, Dottie from Pee Wee's Big Adventure,
Buttercup from the Powerpuff Girls,
Tommy Pickles from Rugrats,
EG Daily from the Voice season 5 Team Blake, Friends
etc!
Any current or future projects
of yours you'd like to share with us?
I'm in the New Rob Zombie Movie 31 as the character SEX-HEAD. It's
soooo good! Also in the new Mothers and Daughters I play
the character Mama Quinn. The Mother of Luke Wilson. I also have beautiful
one woman autobiographical musical available
available on Amazon called Listen Closely: http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/B00U847UHE/.
Also a voice over seminar also avail on Amazon:
http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/B01351LZKO/.
What got you into
acting in the first place, and did you receive any kind of formal
education on the subject? I started at age 8 going on
commercial auditions, then actually didn’t start booking till age 16, then
never stopped! I studied in school up through high school. Then Instead
of college I studied with different amazing teachers. Anyone and everyone
that was amazing, Peggy Fury, Playhouse West, Lee Strasberg Institute,
Howard Fine … Soon many. I think it's so important learn your craft! Be
really solid with your work! It makes the work more fun!
Can you still remember your
first time in front of a camera, and what was that experience like?
Yes
it was a Pepsi Cola commercial! I was about 9 and I was supposed to ride
a Catamaran. I had No idea how to!!! And had to drink tons of
Pepsi!!!! The next more solid was doing an episode of Laverne and
Shirley.
It felt amazing! It was my first real big role at 15! How
would you describe yourself as an actress, and some of your techniques to
bring your characters to life? I love to do character
roles. I find that dressing in wardrobe really helps be grab on to my
character! Next thing ... is really understanding how this character
thinks and understanding what is really going on behind what I'm saying!
The nuttier the role the more fun for me! Besides appearing in
front of the camera, you've also done lots of voice acting - so how did
you get into that, and some shows we might have heard you on? The
voice acting just happened! I was doing a play in which I had to do lots
of different age ranges of the character I was playing. Someone heard me
at the play, handed me their card and he turned out to be a voice over
agent! Next thing he sent me on my first audio for the VO role of a
little boy. I did it and I got it and that happened to be TOMMY PICKLES
from Rugrats! I can be heard as Buttercup in the Powerpuff Girls,
Babe in Babe 2, Baby Mumble from Happy Feet, Julius Jr as
Julius - and
the list goes on!
;
How
does performing in front of a camera compare to voice-acting actually, and
what are the advantages and challenges of just doing a voice? When
in front of camera you get to rely on your body, face, make up, hair, wardrobe
and location as well as other actors so it's like you get to create an
entirely different reality! With voice over you do not need to rely on
any of that, you can be ANYTHING, a boy an girl a box a puppy! So each
has amazing perks!
Over
the years, you have also recorded quite a bit of music - so do talk about
your music and your musical influences!
I do every kind of
music! I have been on many soundtracks. Breakfast Club, Thief of
Hearts, Rugrats, I have two songs on the new Mothers and
Daughters soundtrack. I love soundtrack music. I love country music.
I'm a huge fan of Coldplay and Ed Sheeran. I love acoustic music!
I have so much music on Itunes as well as YouTube! Check it out, it's all
yummy! Music is yummy! Some of your
career highlights, in whatever field?
