Xiulung (Sammi Cheng) is a seasoned actress who, after a phenomenal
career, has taken a break from acting though, but now wants to get back in
after her husband has died and her life's a bit falling apart. But her
co-star, Yuwen (Gigi Leung), is exactly the woman who snatched one of her
possibly biggest roles from her, and the two of them have a rivalry going
on that also bleeds into the play they're in together that's currently in
rehearsals. And it's of course not helping that the both of them have
personal issues going on as well, plus most of the other cast and crew are
not nearly as balanced as they ought to be. But the premiere is looming,
so will everyone be able to get their shit together? Now
everyone who had to deal with actors only for the briefest time will
probably find some truth in this movie (though that said,
behind-the-scenes drama's happening in every profession), and thanks to a
very subtle narrative approach that gives room and ultimately ties up many
a subplot, an elegant yet taken back direction, and a top notch cast, this
has turned out to be a very relatable and utterly un-pretentious movie
that really crosses the lines from drama to comedy, and that really speaks
to everyone. Definitely worth a watch!
