Three zombies (John Iwasz, Sanj Surati, Baxter Guilfoyle) return from a
Star Trek
convention - where they blended right in, as with them being zombies, and
could eat plenty of brains without being noticed - when they see a UFO
crashing into earth. They decide to investigate, after all, there might be
corpses and brains lying around, but alas, all they find is a blob - yup,
the one from the 1958 film [click here].
The Blob immediately eats one of the zombies (Baxter Guilfoyle) - but he
had it coming, wearing a red Star
Trek shirt - but befriends the others rather quickly, and they
agree to get him the means to destroy the earth ... from a nuclear reactor
of course. But two zombies and a Blob inside the nuclear reactor is almost
sure to create chaos - big chaos ... Now in all honesty, this
isn't a professional movie but the winning entry of the 2012 Blobfest
- a festival dedicated to, you guessed it, The
Blob -, so don't expect great effects, great makeup, fancy
camerawork or even good acting. But what Blobageddon is - it's fun,
a loving play on genre conventions, not always totally escaping the plain
silly maybe, but at a running time of a mere 5 minutes, it manages to
remain amusing without wearing out its welcome.
