It's supposed to be the biggest day in Sway's (Emanuel Kabongo) life. He's
a successful businessman with a rags-to-riches story, he is also a
philanthropist who has turned his old ghetto neighbourhood around, drove
out all the druggies, prostitutes and gangsters, and made it into a model
community. And he has also sponsored his younger brother Cy (Tony Ofori),
who eventually has become a football superstar. And today he's to be
honoured for everything at the monument of his deceased mentor. And not
only that, beforehands he's to give an interview to reporter Lisa (Mishael
Morgan) for a fancy business magazine. But the day starts out bad as it
can be, he finds himself in bed with a woman he has never seen before,
Jade (Brittany Raymond), in his very own condo, and when he wants to thow
her out Lisa's already waiting to interview him. Then he learns Cy, who
was supposed to be the guest star at the ceremony, has gone missing after
a cocaine binge, then he learns that Cy owes, well, something to a bookie
(Pauz Amos), and it's something other than money, then Jade threatens to
blackmail with him, and on top of that he learns from his wife (Prosha
Hussein) that strongmen, most probably in Rez's employ have shown up in
the neighbourhood looking for Cy. And while his bodybuard (Karl Campbell)
and his assistant (Lovell Adams-Gray) try to get the situation under
control while he's still having his interview with Lisa, that conersation
takes a darker and darker turn, revealing things form his past he'd rather
not want anyone to know ... Now this film is mostly a handsome and
well-dressed thirty-something basically walking through his fancy
apartment talking to people, often over the phone, trying to get a handle
on his many often inter-connected issues, and for that it has no business
to be even half as exciting as it acually is. But thanks to a clever
script that presents the audience with a complex puzzle and that dares to
leave things unsaid until the last moment, a strong cast embodying well
fleshed out characters, and a dynamic direction getting the most out of
the limited locations and lack of physical action, this has turned out to
be a very tense, suspenseful thriller that's well worth a watch.
