After a terrible train crash down the tracks, 4 strangers are stranded
at a train station where they probably have to spend the night. So to make
the time pass quicker, they start to tell each other their nightmares from
last night:
- Janice (Leeann Aubuchon) is a teacher who has taken to online dating
after having run out of options in her hometown - and she has met a
really nice New Yorker, Bob (Pete Baez) online. He even proves to be
gentleman enough to not trying to take advantage of her when she
suddenly finds herself forced to spent the night at his place - but
thing is, there's something wrong with the house ...
- Silver-tongued Jason (Logan Lopez) talks panhandler Lacy (Xoe Rose)
into joinging his "cult", explaining her she has been made
for more than just living on the street. But once with the cult she
finds they are killing those who have done wrong in the world - which
sounds like a good idea to her at first (as she can somehow avenge
having been molested by her stepdad), but soon it all goes over her
head ... but skipping a cult like this one is never half as easy as it
sounds ...
- Mike (Julian Lowenthal) is a wannabe writer, but this night, he has
to babysit a 15 year old girl (Avery Nodland), who somehow talks him
into capturing the Sasquatch roaming the premises - but there might be
a whole different story going on behind this ...
- Douglas (Chris Geoffrion) has once been a big shot at a chemical
plant, which has given him a pompous attitude, but then he was fired,
and slowly his money has run out. These days he's scrambling for
pennies, so he accepts a highly dubious job as a "data
manager" - but at that job he merely has to type data into a
computer, locked into an office with a colleague (Jack Moon), and
eventually masked killers are let loose on them as part of an
"experiment" ...
Once the four have told their stories to one another, the ticket clerk
(Ray Suprenant) shows up to inform them their ride has finally arrived -
but the ride might not go right where they want to ...
Very nice horror anthology that's narratively most comparable in the Amicus
omnibus movies of old, while aesthetically it more closely
resembles 1980s indie horror flicks in its unexcited (but exciting)
directorial approach, its reliance on mostly practical effects, and even
its occasional flashes of humour. And add to that a very solid cast,
stories that also show originality, and a genuine love for horror as such,
and you've got yourself a nice piece of genre entertainment!
