Megan (Bella Dayne) is washed ashore a small island off the Scottish coast
covered in blood but with at best fractured memory of what has happened to
her - but her state looks worrying enough for DCI MacKelly (Tan Deab Burn)
to question her - and her memory slowly returns. Turns out that she was
part of a team trying to break the world record for crossing the Atlantic
in a rowboat, but the project was under no good star from day one, when
teammember Adam (Mark Strepan) had to bail out because of a broken leg and
Megan, Lexi (Sophie Skelton) and team captain Dan (Akshay Khanna) have to
take on newcomer Mike (Nick SSkeugen), basically an unknown factor on an
enterprise of this magnitude, And sure, once on water it doesn't take the
two men long to play alpha dog - especially since too bossy and ambitious
to care for anyone's well-being. Thing is, Mike has a dark secret, too.
Also the girls soon start to argue as apparently Megan has an affair with
Adam, who's Lexi's boyfriend. To top it all off, there's apparently
someone ab oard who has gotten rid of half the rations and pierced a hole
into the water supply. None of this is good for the morale of the team,
and it doesn't take long before their arguments get physical ...
Row is an extremely tense thriller driven by a strong
script, getting the most out of its limited locations, and despite a
seemingly linear storyline leaving the viewer in the dark during most of
this. And the directorial effort and camerawork really get the most of its
mostly water-set locations, while the ensemble are uniformly first rate,
and they create just the right chemistry between them to carry the film
rather beautifully and help make this awesome genre entertainment. Row will hit UK cinemas on August 29th and will be
available on DVD & digital platforms from September 29th.
