Deep deep in the jungle, Ramar, white jungle doctor (Jon Hall), his
assistant Ogden (Ray Montgomery) and their guide Willy (Nick Stewart) find
Helen Trowbridge (Linda Danson) and her brother in law Martin (Warren
Goddard), who's sick from jungle fever ... and for some reason, the
natives won't permit Ramar to help the man. And then Martin also has
visions of his dead wife coming back to haunt him - a wife the natives
suspect him to have killed, and now they want the junglefever to exact
revenge.
However, Ramar can soon find out that the ghost Martin is seeing is
really nothing more than a kite, and that -Helen is actually trying to
drive him bonkers, because she, too, believes he killed her sister. In the
end, Ramar can persuade everybody to hand Martin over to white man's
justice ... but by now, Martin has really gone bonkers, and he admits to
the murder, right before he falls into a poisonous devil bush and
instantly dies - dies in the same way he killed his wife. So the jungle
has exacted revenge after all ...
One of the better episodes of Ramar of the Jungle, mixing
the usual trappings of a jungle tale and the sloppily inserted stock
footage with a murder mystery that actually makes use of the jungle
setting. The murder mystery might not be totally convincing, but it makes
a fine nostalgic half hour to watch.
