The people of earth have been hit by another deadly virus, this one so
deadly that even the country's chief virologist (Sean Kenney) isn't sure
anymore that a cure can be found, as he labels it nature's way to
eradicate humankind. In front of this background, Cathy (Bailey Sorrel)
calls her boyfriend Matt (Gilles Stricher) for a video chat, as they're
both under lockdown, she at home, he at some fancy hotel in another
country. Now Matt has been worried sick about Cathy, as she hasn't called
in two weeks and rejected all his call, and he's afraid she's giving him
the boot, but she assures him that is not the caste - but the longer they
talk, the more it becomes clear there's something off with her ...
Olivia D'Abo plays a TV anchor in the film's framing interview.
As of this writing (2025), the Covid-quarantines are still frech in
people's minds, so the film's finality strikes pretty hard - but that's of
course the intended effect of this movie, and good storytelling makes this
more than just a calculated shock effect but the ending is properly worked
towards, greatly helped of course by the fact tht the two leads manage to
create chemistry with one another over the camera. And the outcome then is
a pretty fascinating piece of drama.
