Jungle Jim number 3:
Somewhere in a national park, Jungle Jim (Johnny Weissmuller) finds
Nyobi (Suzanne Dalbert), who has just been attacked by a gorilla even
though "this is not gorilla country", and he brings her to the
next ranger station, where he finds the warden Bentley (Selmer Jackson)
sick in bed and attended to by shady vet Brandt (Onslow Stevens), while
Bentley's daughter Barbara (Trudy Marshall) tries to run the station.
Soon Bentley turns up dead, killed by a gorilla, while some hidden Nazi
gold is thrown into the mix that rightfully belongs to Nyobi, a (white)
native princess. Actually, Brandt is leading a gang that secretly digs for
the Nazi gold in a hidden mine and they use the gorillas to scare everyone
off, but neither Jim nor company know that yet ... but soon enough they
catch a gorilla and realize it is a man - only Brandt can shoot him before
he can give anything away ...
Eventually of course, Jim and company find the hidden mine, which all
ends in a big shootout between the gangsters in the mine and Jim and the
rangers ... and guess who wins ! Only Brandt gets away with the loot, but
Jim is in hot pursuit, and ultimately, Brandt falls off a cliff to his
death ...
By the way, Jim gets to fight a leopard, a vulture and a sea serpent in
this one. There is also a lion vs tiger fight in the film, which is very
unlikely to happen in real life, since lions live in Africa while tigers
are native to the jungles of Asia.
Cheap and silly jungle flick - but if you like cheap and silly jungle
flicks just like I do, you might even like this one.
