Once Assane (Omar Sy) finds out his son Raoul (Etan Simon) has not died
in the burnt out car last episode,
he has no problems escaping his arresting cops (Shirine Boutella, Mathieu
Milella), and now sets out on a mission to track down and bring back his
son. Raoul has actually been saved out of the car in the nick of time by
detective Guedira (Soufiane Guerrab), who drives him back to Paris to hand
over to his superior Dumont (Vincent Garanger) - who is in league with
Assane's arch enemy Pellegrini (Hervé Pierre) though, and Pellegrini
wants to use the boy as bait to lure Assane to him. He has set up the
scene rather beautifully, too, having a big fundraiser at a luxury hotel
while holding Raoul in one of the rooms, pretty much setting up the
perfect trap that way. Assane of course manages to enter the hotel in
disguise, but it doesn't take him long to see through Pellegrini's plans,
and he leaves the hotel halfway through his mission, and instead he uses
Pellegrini's computer-generated voice to lure out Raoul and his guards,
and somehow tricks them into giving up the boy. Unfortunately Pellegrini
has foreseen that move, and has put pressure on Assane's wife Claire
(Ludivine Sagnier) to be able to set up another trap for Assane ... After
last episode was a bit of a
let-down, this is a return to form, with Assane planning things with the
precision of a clockwork, which really makes much of the fascination of
the series, and him having a strong adversary in Pellegrini, who seems to
anticipate his every move. Granted, not the best episode of the series as
it lacks the sheer grandeur of Assane's schemes present in earlier
entries, but definitely a fun one.
