Kottan (Lukas Resetarits) has been thrown out of his apartment by his
wife (Bibiane Zeller), and what's worse, she later goes on a date with
Kottan's nemesis within the police, president of police Pilch (Kurt
Weinzierl) - a date that goes horribly wrong. Eventually, businessman
Bertalan (Edd Stavjanik) is murdered in the apartment he paid for his
girlfriend Helga (Maria Martina), who has literally just left him, and
when Kottan and company - Schremser (Walter Davy) and Schrammel (Curt A.
Tichy) - try to track her down, they find she has been pushed out a window
by her pimp Joe (Franz Buchrieser), who manages to always stay one or two
steps ahead of the police. Kottan is paired with American cop Lemmy
Caution(Eddie
Constantine), who finds a clue leading to a prostitution ring, which
Kottan has infiltrated by Elvira (Christiane Rücker), a prostitute he has
had an affair with - which totally undermines his efforts to get back
together with his wife. However, Kottan finds out that the prostitution
ring also employed Bertalan's daughter (Marieli Froehlich), and in a
plottwist that seems to come right out of fellow cop series Derrick
(so much so that the characters remark on it), it turns out that it was
actually Bertalan's son (Konrad Becker) who shot his own father, with the
initial intention to only scare shitless one of his sister's would-be
johns ... Narratively, this episode is quite a bit of a mess
since at first it fails to kick into gear, starting out with Kottan's
marital problems rather than the case central to the episode, then the
case seems to be split in two, with the final resolution pulled out of the
hat rather than anything else, which was of course part of the punchline
but lacks narrative elegance. And add to that the by now standard comedy
skits interrupting the narrative flow and you're left with a bit of a
mess. But there are some good parts as well, the casting of both former
Kottan Franz Buchrieser (even making fleeting remarks to his former role)
and veteran Eddie Constantine, making fun of his Lemmy
Caution image, was inspired at least, and they are put to good
use (even if Constantine eventually leaves the episode rather
unceremoniously), Kurt Weinzierl hams it up to ridiculousness, and at
least isolated pieces of comedy are rather hilarious. Not among the best
episodes of the series mind you, but pretty entertaining nevertheless.
