Jungle Jim number 7:
Jungle Jim (Johnny Weissmuller) saves a photographer, Anne (Sheila
Ryan), from drowning and learns that she is searching for Bob Miller (Bob
Waterfield) who has gone lost in the jungle 8 years ago and has now wound
up to be the heir of a large fortune ... and by finding him, she hopes to
get her fair share of the fortune ...
Jungle Jim on the other hand hears of an evil tribe led by a white man
attacking all the other tribes in the regions with the help of spooky
skeleton men (actually men dancing around in cheap Halloween costumes),
and another tribe led by a white man, who can allegedly throw thunder
... and since Jim and Anne both figure one of the white men just has to be
Bob, they decide to join forces, and soon they are joined by native
chieftain Bono (Rick Vallin), who helps them in their investigations.
Eventually, the trio stumbles over the skeleton men, the benign white man
who can throw thunder - which turns out to be a primitive form of a
Molotov Cocktail - who really is Bob, and finally they all turn captives
of the evil tribe led by white man Mitchell Heller (Lyle Talbot), who
needs native slaves to mine for radioactive material in the deepest
jungle. And since these natives die from radioactive poisoning like flies,
his men continually attack other tribes for slaves to keep a steady
supply.
Of course, in the end Jim saves the day by an underwater explosion that
floods Heller's mine, Bob gets to throw a little more thunder, the slaves,
encouraged by all of this, revolt and Heller is ultimately killed by his own
greed ... but interestingly enough, this time around, not Jim but Bob gets
the girl.
Footage of a shark fighting an octopus and two dinosaurs (actually
made-up lizards lifted from One
Million B.C.) fighting are thrown into the mix, with little connection
to the actual plot but funny to look at ...
Once again, a silly entry into a silly series - and once again, if you
like cheap and cheesy jungle flicks, especially those with unconvincing
dinosaurs, you might just like this one.
