Still trying to come over a relationship that has turned sour, writer Rian
(Rushabh Patel) has moved into a run down motel to write a horror novel at
the behest of his agent (voiced by Lori Felipe Barkin) who has finally
found somebody interested in his writing with money to invest into him.
But hbe soon finds writing problematic, not because he runs out of ideas
but because the stuff he writes seems to actually happen just outside his
hotel room door, so much so that he's at one time attacked himself by the
very stalker (Bobby Ligs) he has made up. Weirder though, he is saved by
Katie (Stephanie Gomes Hogan), the protabonist of his book and the woman
the stalker's actually after. Rian soon enough falls for Katie, and thus
he helps her fight the stalker while feverishly thinking of a way for
Katie not getting killed as he originally intended. That said though,
who's to say the real life events won't eventually overtake the speed of
his writing?
Now ok, if you really think about the plot of this movie, it doesn't make
much sense and is a thought experiment at best. That said, while watching
I Know Exactly How You Die this hardly matters, iit's
just too well constructed for one not to suspend one's belief, to tense
and suspense-filled, with some great and gruesome setpieces. And add to
this characters one really can care about in all their fallability
embodied by a competent cast, and you're left with a pretty cool genre
ride.
