A man (József Gallai) sneaks around the house of a woman (Alvona
Yakimenko) with a camera, trying to find out everything about her he can -
without her knowing of course. And he has no reservations breaking into
her place while she showers or peeking in on her while she has sex with
her lover (Péter Inoka). Thing is, the more our stalker finds out about
our heroine, the more creeped out he gets ...
Genre favourite Robert LaSardo plays an expert who (to a degree) ties
things up towards the end.
The Final Frame is a rather uncomfortable movie, and if I
had to make an educated guess I'd say intentionally so: Thing is, when
we're thrown into the film we're not given any context, we have no idea
about the motives of our intruder and even his face is constantly hidden
behind his camera which shows us nothing but his uncommented point of
view. And the absence of a film score makes this approach even more
immediate and somehow puts us into the shoes of a stalker, looking at
things we know we ought not - which all makes the surprise twist towards
the end come totally out of the blue. And all of this adds up to a
fascinating watch, even if it's a tad on the uncomfortable side.
