A couple is brutally killed by a robber in their own mansion, but they
leave two kids behind, who are taken care of by their uncle & aunt
who move into the mansion. Strange things soon start to happen in this
house, scaring the shit out of uncle & aunt, & driving all
strangers away, or - in case of the robber from the beginning who now
returns as painter (!) - killing them. The kids soon find out the
spirits of their deceased parents are behind all this, because they have
come back to take care of their offspring even after death, to play with
them, hug them & kiss them (really !), but while the children play
with their ghost-parents out in the garden, uncle & aunt already
hire an exorcist to put an end to the proceedings, but the parental love
of the parents proves stronger than the man's powers, forcing uncle
& aunt to hire a bulldozer to tear down the mansion (what ?), which
of course is stopped by the spirits who possess the thing, but they lose
to much power in the process, & so can finally be exorcised ... or
are they ?
An extremely disappointing blend of gore movie & extremely
childish feelgood-ghost story, with a very unsubtle script, & the non-performances by non-actors (especially the kids are
godawful) do not help the movie one bit either. Though Lucio Fulci has done his
fair share of bad films during his career, I doubt he has ever done
another one that
bad.
